The Grassi family has been active in the stone quarrying sector since the 19th century, when Pietro Grassi set up the first quarry on the Nanto hills and started producing fine stone for sculptors and nearby building sites. Pietro Grassi's children and grandchildren treasured his commitment and started widening the market of the family-produced stone.
They offered their production to important building contractors in the provinces of Vicenza, Padua and Verona.
In the 1950s, the third generation of the family first brought Vicenza stone to international trade-fairs. The company and its products thus became world-famous. Nowadays Grassi Pietre is constantly confronted with new global market challenges, but it still treasures the original care and commitment of its founder, and the company's head-office is still located in Nanto (Vicenza), as it originally was. Grassi Pietre is interested in sophisticated projects based on its traditional quarrying products and relying both on the traditional know-how of its craftsmen and on the most recent technologies available for stone processing. Grassi Pietre offers its customers a full service: building site surveys, planning, project managing and final project execution in co-operation with specialised companies. An impressive product portfolio is available for the highest customer satisfaction: rough blocks, random slabs and a wide variety of architecture and furnishing items. Custom-designed projects are the company's speciality and are carried out with maximum care.
The company-owned quarries on the Berici Hills, in the province of Vicenza, are central to Grassi Pietre's activity. They make it possible for our company to rely on large quantities of colour consistent, homogeneous stone. Grassi Pietre is particularly concerned with customer satisfaction and environmental issues. All quarries are in gallery and guarantee a limited visual and environmental impact on the surrounding areas
