The Chesterfield is without doubt a paradigm of English style. It eventually became known as a sofa and chair de-sign associated with the 19th century London Gentleman's Club although later became familiar within the offices and homes of Great Britain and her colonies. Today, the Ches-terfield is a symbol of British craftsmanship at its best; an item of high quality that will last a lifetime. One of my earliest childhood memories is the distinct smell of sawdust and leather in my Father's workshop. It is the familiar aroma of my origins, the essence of the Fleming & Howland family. Since 1780, the skills and techniques required to make an authentic British Chesterfield have been passed down through generations of traditional chair makers. This is the legacy I have inherited...a responsibility to continue the pride and passion of my ancestry.
